Description

Guided Sauna Retreat in Barry, South Wales

This is so much more than simply spending time in a sauna.

The Guided Sauna Ritual at Reset Wellbeing in Barry, South Wales is an intimate two-hour sauna and contrast therapy experience created for just three guests.

Across a carefully guided series of sauna rounds, hot and cold contrast, botanical sensory experiences and periods of rest, you’ll be encouraged to work with your body rather than simply seeing how much heat or cold you can tolerate.

There is no pressure to push yourself through any part of the experience. Everything is guided, optional and adapted to the people in front of me.

Your two-hour experience

From the moment you arrive, everything has been prepared so that you can settle into the experience.

You’ll be welcomed with herbal tea and given your own towelling robe to use throughout the ritual, before we begin with a full welcome and safety briefing.

Your experience includes:

• A two-hour professionally guided sauna and contrast therapy ritual
• Four carefully facilitated sauna rounds
• Botanical sensory experiences using natural lavender, mugwort and clover bouquets
• Traditional sauna whisking
• Two filtered ice baths
• Hot and cold outdoor shower
• Handmade salt scrub for the final sauna round
• Fresh fruit platter with three seasonal fruits
• Herbal tea
• Towelling robe for use throughout your visit
• A pair of fluffy socks to take home
• Indoor changing facilities
• Toilet facilities and parking

Small by design

This experience is limited to just three guests.

Keeping the group this small allows me to guide the experience personally and gives us enough space for traditional whisking to take place within the sauna itself.

Rather than simply moving independently between sauna and ice bath, you’ll be guided through the different stages of the ritual, with time to notice how your body is responding and make choices accordingly.

Sauna, botanicals and the senses

Each sauna round has its own rhythm and sensory focus.

Natural botanical bouquets including lavender, mugwort and clover are incorporated into the ritual alongside traditional sauna practices, with a handmade salt scrub introduced during the final round.

Heat, scent, touch, water and periods of rest are intentionally brought together to create an immersive sensory experience without asking your body to simply endure more.

Guided contrast therapy

Outside the sauna, the private Reset contrast therapy garden includes two filtered ice baths and a hot and cold outdoor shower.

Cold-water immersion is always optional.

This isn’t about proving how long you can stay in an ice bath or forcing your body through discomfort.

You’ll be encouraged to notice your breathing, physical responses and individual capacity, with guidance throughout. You can choose how you participate in each element of the experience.

More than sauna access

You aren’t simply booking two hours of access to a sauna and ice bath.

The entire experience is prepared and facilitated for you, from the botanical elements and handmade products to the different sauna rounds, contrast therapy and quieter moments between them.

Whether you come with friends, to mark a special occasion or simply because you’d like to experience sauna and contrast therapy differently, you don’t need to arrive knowing what to do.

I’ll guide you through it.
